This makes for a good place to start on a discussion of the personal consequences of apartheid, and certainly an excellent stopping point on a larger discussion of South Africa history and racism.

Seikilos’ Epitaph: a recording of the world’s oldest complete song

Epitaph – Song of Seikilos  – a recording of the Sumerian Seikilos Epitaph. This is oldest surviving complete musical composition, including musical notation. According to Wikipedia,  “the epitaph has been dated variously from around 200 BC to around AD 100, but the first century AD is the most probable guess.” The song was written using the ancient Greek system of musical natation and was found on a tombstone near Aydun, Turkey (close to the ancient city of Ephesus). While there are excerpts of older songs (using older notations) none of them are complete.
